Yes there is a second drawing for my most favorite notion ever!! The The Seam-Fix Seam Ripper

The Lucky second winner is......

 Giddy99!!! Yea!!

Congrats to you both and thank you all for joining in, I appreciate all the comments!!!

GCCMOM and Giddy I will contact you through email!

Sooooo, I am ashamed that I have not been by in a while, but its been a mad house up in here! Lots going on with life and work. All good things though.
First off I got to make an awesome auction quilt for a good friend, and I loved every minute of making this one. It involves two of my favorite things, the U.S.A. and batik fabrics......

Unfortunatly, I did not get a chance to take a final picture, but it was beautiful if I must say so myself ;)

Next on the blog agenda is........
My New Tattoo!!!
I wanted to have a wrist tattoo of something I absolutely love, quilting!!!
So I choose this Sawtooth Star pattern, just love it. The quilt square may look a little familiar, It is from In Color Orders BOM. This star embodies modern and traditional all in one. That makes me very happy.

Well, lastly, the GIVEAWAY!!! For some reasons I look at a purse pattern and go completely stupid. I have a hard time grasping the whole purse making thing. But I do know you guys out there are totally awesome at making them. So, I am giving away an adorable purse pattern!!!
Yea!! The pattern is from Bella Nonna! The pattern is Pattern No. 159, the Boutique Shoulder Bag...... Super Cute!!
There is also a surprise gift with that Giveaway!!!!

Parisian Owl Finished!! and other stuff....

I am sooo very excited to be able to show you guys "Parisian Owl"  using Tula Pink Parisville Fabrics!!!

I had totally had so much fun making this.
After hand embroidering the owl and piecing the borders I hand quilted in a chunky uneven stitch in a diagonal fashion.
She's a tiny girl measuring at 25" x 27".
Such a cute wall hanging. It's going in our bedroom!
Now I can't wait to see what our contest winner, Barbara, will make!

So, my momma taught my young how to hand stitch by using cross stitch, embroidery, and needle point. I still love it to this day. I have found some super modern and awesome embroidery patterns on line. One being Calavera by Polka and Bloom.
***The word calavera (Spanish for "skull") can refer to a number of cultural phenomena associated with the Mexican celebration of the Day of the Dead and the Roman Catholic holiday All Souls Day.---Wikipedia***
Here is my rendition of this pattern so far...

The neat thing about her patterns are you get different sizes. So, I am going to make prob 6-8 of these in different sizes and incorporate them into a quilt.... So cute!!!!

Ok so for some fun, the Hubs ig going to kill me for this...but it's so cute!
I quilt mostly at night and everyone in the house is usually asleep... they do ocasionally come and visit me in the Quilt Liar.....

Yes, Daddy & Yoshimi love to cuddle!

On the other side of the house I found this....
My sweet Ridgey-Poo passed out by his bowl.

These guys are a lively bunch, lol!!

Well, that's it for me today. Thank you all for stopping by.
If you fell a lil' frisky leave me a comment ;)

Namaste all!

This week............

Hey guys!! This past week was a weirdly productive week. Odd, I know. I actually got a few projects finished or started, like I need more to do. I decide to finally write down every project I have going, big mistake... I have the absurd number of, wait I had to count again,..... Ok, 16!!!!!
I do suggest doing this if you already haven't. As if I love punishment, on the next page is the catagory "Project ideas." Yes, really, I need more to do.

So how do you stay organized?

Well, next I finished a quilt for a dear friend for her Birthday.... Rosa's Quilt...
I wanted to  make something with the vintage and repros I had for her.

Then, on Saturday when we got home from work, I had a Surprise in the Quilt Lair...... please no screaming....

The Terror Of Yoshimi!! She had to save is from the Abominable Stuffing Bag!!! Ohhhh nooo!

Yeah, well she told on herself and then gave me this look:

And all we could do is laugh. She didn't like us laughing at her ;)
Mommy's Baby!!!

One last triumph for this week and then I'm out of here:
Pillows:

I had total fun making these! I L O V E pink, orange, & batiks, so I got use some hand dyed and batik's for these. Also, on the brown pillow I used a fabric called Mul Mul that I ordered from India. It's almost like a voile. So soft and beautiful. The smaller of the two I used some vintage lace and trimming. Just love these.

Well, thanks for stopping by.

Bloggers’ Quilt Festival :: Spring 2012 :)

I am so very excited to be entering my quilt "Dusty's Owl" into the Bloggers' Quilt Festival over at Amy's Creative Side!
Since I have begun quilting almost three years ago, I have never entered anything into a contest or judging.
I think it's about time!
Here it is:
Dusty's Owl
I had a total blast making this one. I made it for my best friend, Dusty, for Christmas last year. Using some of her favorite colors I came up with this for her.
It is my design, I like to call it "Funky Fussy Cutting".
Luckily, her hubs, Jon, is a master with the camera and got these beautiful shots of the quilt....

I have been blessed a lot lot lately with marrying the man of my dreams and having all our family and friends with us, plus having the best family ever, and having that one special friend that no matter how long it is before we talk to each other, we can always pick up from where we left off. I love you Dusty!

So, thank you very much for stopping by and sharing you thoughts with me about the quilt!!

It's Sunday!!!! And Momma's Day!!!!!!

It is Sunday and Momma's Day! Who could ask for more? Me, I miss my momma. We live a few hours apart, so we don't see each other much, but talk almost everyday. I just adore her!

Isn't she too damn so cute!
Well, I love her although I know she will be on a long plane ride today and not able to see her babies. Her and my father are my favorite people and I am so lucky to have them as parents.

So, I love my Sundays, mostly due to working 6 days a week and only having Sundays to sew all day! Although, my house work suffers. Luckily, Jason is a great supporter in whatever I do, so our time is limited sometimes.
Finally this week I finished the first Embroidery project I have done in  forever.
Wanna see????
I used the pattern Calavera Skull Embroidery Pattern from Polka & Bloom. She has beautiful easy to download modern patterns over there.
It's not perfect, but I really had to relearn my stitches. Eventually it came back to me, and this is what I got! Maybe I will make a pillow or make a bunch in different size skulls and make a throw, what to do.....
I love it!

I have now picked a pattern and all the rest of the coordinating fabrics to use with my Trade Winds in Blue by Lily Ashbury  fabric.
I will be using In Color Order's Vintage Nine Patch Pattern. I am so excited to start cutting this evening!!!

Well, that's enough of me.
Hope all you beautiful Momma's out there have a wonderful Day!

Who fed me from her gentle breast and hushed me in her arms to rest, And on my cheek sweet kisses prest? My Mother.

Om Shanti.
